DECEMBER 22-28, 2003

At 1:35 p.m., Monday, Green County Dispatch was contacted by telephone by Scott T. Howarth, 47, Pecatonica, Illinois. Howarth reported another vehicle passed him at a high rate of speed on STH 104. Deputies located the offending vehicle, driven by Jack W. Pillow, 45, Brodhead, Pillow was cited for operating after suspension. Contact was made with the complainant, Scott T. Howarth, who was arrested for second offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants. He was released to a responsible person pending court.

At 10:56 p.m., Monday, Connie Hazlebower, 38, Albany, was cited for speeding on STH 69 and was given a court date.

At 5:16 a.m., Tuesday, Sarah Balz, 30, Brodhead, was cited for speeding on STH 104 and was given a court date.

AT 5:53 a.m., Tuesday, Raymond Thurow, 38, Brodhead, was cited for failure to stop at stop sign on STH 104. He was given a court date.

At 6:13 a.m., Tuesday, Eric Maynard, 27, Brodhead, was cited for inattentive driving on STH 104. He was given a court date.

At 2:54 a.m., Wednesday, Brandy A. Blackwood, 19, Juda, was arrested by deputies on an Albany PD warrant for underage drinking. She was incarcerated at the Green County Jail.

At 6:12 a.m., Wednesday, Aaron Withee, 36, Brodhead, was cited for speeding on STH 104. He was given a court date.

At 6:27 a.m., Wednesday, David Voelker, 24, Brodhead, was cited for speeding on STH 104. He was given a court date.

At 12:11 p.m., Wednesday, deputies along with Wisconsin State Patrol, Brodhead Fire and EMS responded to a two vehicle crash at CTH G and Spring Creek Road. A vehicle operated by Daniel R. Austin, 17, Brodhead, pulled out from a yield sign on Spring Creek Road and into the path of a south bound vehicle with cattle trailer operated by James P. Baumgartner, 32, South Wayne. Austin’s vehicle collided with the trailer Baumgartner was towing which was loaded with cattle. No injuries were reported. Austin’s vehicle and Baumgartner’s trailer received moderate damage. Austin’s 12 year old passenger was not injured. Seat belts were worn. Austin’s vehicle was towed from the scene. No cattle were injured. Investigation continues.

At 6:47 p.m., Sunday, Nicholas Burgener, 16, Brodhead, was cited for speeding on STH 81. He was given a court date.

Rock County Circuit Court

Robert A. Chamberlin, Orfordville, trespassing to land, $243.

Heather M. Demrow, Orfordville, speeding, $181.

Green County Circuit Court

Leo W. Martin, 50, Albany, remains free on a $10,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance Wednesday, December 24, on drug charges. Court records indicate the State Line Area Narcotics Team searched Martin’s home December 19 and found 57 marijuana plants, two bags and a plastic container containing marijuana, equipment to grow the plants, smoking devices and several guns. Martin was previously convicted of driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent and isn’t allowed to have any weapons. He is charged with manufacturing to deliver marijuana, a class F felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a class G felony, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a class H felony, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, each an unclassified misdemeanor. He faces more than 28 years in prison and more than $60,000 in fines, if convicted. His preliminary hearing is January 8.

Brodhead Police

DECEMBER 14-20, 2003

At 12:01 a.m., Saturday, Brodhead officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue for a fight in progress. Upon officers arriving in the area, Trevor R. Maves, 30, Edgerton, was arrested for disorderly conduct only. It was previously reported that he was also arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The Brodhead Police Department apologizes for the error.

Laverne J. Richards, 33, Hillpoint, Wisconsin, speeding, found guilty, $77.20.

Gordon J. Zimmerman, 63, Brodhead, permit unauthorized person to drive, found guilty, $102.00.

Phyllis A. Ahrens, 69, Brodhead, unsafe backing of vehicle, $77.20.

Terra J. Alderman, 17, Brodhead, two counts habitual truancy, $102.00 each count, plea agreement with court.

Jerod L. Blizard, 23, Brodhead, destruction of property, $188.80 and restitution ordered.

Penny L. Cook, 40, Brodhead, issuance of worthless check, $213. 60.

James F. Hume, 29, Brodhead, operation after suspension, no show/default, $100.00.

Casey J. Jovani, 18, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, speeding, no show/default, $77.20.

Beau L. Stuhr, 19, Brodhead, underage possession/consumption, no show/default, $288.00, resisting, $288.00, prowling/loitering, $102.00.

Shannon J. Woollums, 33, Brodhead, destruction of property, $188.80 and restitution ordered.

APPEARANCE ON DECEMBER 11, 2003

Dwayne J. Hosp, 39, Brodhead, two counts issuance of worthless checks, $213.60 each count and restitution ordered.

Romeo is the Green County Humane Society’s pet of the week. He is a neutered male, seven month old, domestic short haired, brown/grey tabby. He likes attention from people but can be very content on his own. He gets along well with other cats and is very spunky and playful. Please consider giving him a home so he doesn’t have to grow up in a cage.
