The Brodhead School Board recently authorized the formation of a Finance Committee, in response to concerns raised during referendum meetings held this past spring. The Finance Committee will serve as a standing committee of the Board, and provide guidance and oversight to budgeting procedures.
Committee membership will include three Board members, the superintendent of schools, and the district business manager. The Board is also seeking a community volunteer to serve on this committee. It is hoped that the community representative will bring some experience in public sector finance or other financial experience. Individuals interested in serving in this position should submit a short letter of interest, providing an overview of their qualifications for the appointment. The letter of interest should be submitted to the District Office no later than 3 p.m. on Monday, August 9th. Current Finance Committee members will review the letters of interest at their meeting on Aug. 11, and determine a selection process dependent on the number of applications received.
Time commitment for this appointment will include a monthly meeting prior to the Board meeting each second Wednesday of the month. This monthly meeting will convene at 6:30 p.m. In the months of January, April and October, the Finance Committee will meet at 6 p.m., to provide additional time for budget work. Additional meetings may be scheduled by the Committee as needed. Term of appointment will run for one year, concurrent with School Board committee appointments (typically May to April).
Individuals needing more information on this committee appointment are encouraged to visit with any Board member, or contact District Administrator Chuck Deery (897-2141).
