Brodhead-Juda’s Ethan Douglas and Brandon Booth were on the winning side of most of their football games last fall. That pattern continued as the pair helped the South squad win the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association 2010 small school all-star game in Oshkosh on July 17.
Douglas and Booth were selected as two of six co-captains for the South squad. That was quite an honor, but one that probably doesn’t surprise their fans locally.
Douglas, listed at 6-2, 210, started at middle linebacker for the South and Booth started at offensive guard. He is 6-2, 260. “It was really fun,” Douglas said after returning to Brodhead. They got their own jerseys and the college locker rooms were really cool, he said.
The North took a 6-0 lead on its first possession but that was it scoring wise for them the rest of the way.
“They were pretty tough but I’d say our defense played really well,” Douglas said. Douglas said it was cool to play with kids that he competed against in high school. A player that Brodhead-Juda fans are familiar with, Michael Walker of Big Foot, scored a touchdown for the South on a four-yard run.
Douglas was hitting the weight room last week following the game. He is leaving in a few weeks to go to Upper Iowa University to continue his football career. Booth will play football at Platteville.
